STARTING OVER

It's never easy to start over.  However, I am thankful to God that He gives us opportunities to do so.  He has kept good on His promise in Philippians 1:6 (AMP) saying "And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you".

In starting over,  you have to be sensitive to what the Holy Spirit is leading you to do.  Sometimes, the leading may come in portions, meaning, step by step.  The directions may be clear but the destination may be a mystery.  That is where your faith will come into play.  Next, you need to prepare for your journey.  No one goes on a trip without planning and packing what you need.  Equip yourself with knowledge you will need to study for your journey and more importantly, pray.  Don't bombard yourself with too much information, just keep everything simple.  Always ask for guidance from the Holy Spirit and back it up with the Word of God.  Seek counsel from pastors you trust with your life and build up your spiritual life.

You may ask, what does changing careers do with my spiritual life?  Well, the answer is simple,  Matthew 6:31-33 (NIV) "So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."  You see, it is important for us to put God FIRST in everything we do.  The problem with Christians today is we tend to forget who we are serving in the first place.  We get a promotion, we get a raise, we get a bonus, all of these things come from God, sadly, we attribute it to our own hard work and forget him all too quickly.  We have to remember that although we live in this world, we are no longer part of it, and its decisions, its methods, its ways should no longer be our ways. "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing! (Galatians 2:20-21)
One thing I've learned over the past years is that obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Sam. 15:22)  We feel miserable because we sacrifice too much for the wrong reasons.  We claim to love God but don't keep His commandments, we quote verses from the Bible but our lives don't show any change.  God wants us to be successful, but under His own terms, His rules and His time.  God's interpretation of success is far more than what you can imagine.  His rewards are far greater than what the world can offer.  There is no clear explanation on why some Christians may appear to be poor, but you may be surprised that they are richer than you are when judgement day comes.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:19-21)
